Recloser Market Report
RA00264
Recloser Market, by Phase (Single Phase, Three-phase), Control (Electronic, Hydraulic), Interruption (Oil, Vacuum), Voltage Rating (15 kV, 27 kV, 38 kV) Regional Analysis (North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, LAMEA): Global Opportunity Analysis and Industry Forecast, 2019–2026
Recloser Market Analysis:
Reclosers are electronic power equipment that acts as an electric switch in a circuit. They break the circuit automatically on detecting any faults or abnormality in power supply to avoid short circuits. Reclosers first detect the faulty line causing the trouble, then automatically remove the fault as well. They are capable of resetting the faults automatically and manually and further restore the power supply. When the fault occurs more than three times in a circuit, the recloser cuts the power supply to avoid any accidents. They are majorly used in industries, manufacturing outlets, malls, and office setups to prevent short circuit related incidents. Recloser ensures complete safety and is widely used for its multiple benefits.
Growing power consumption, expansion of transmission and distribution network, and increased automation are the key factor for market growth
Urbanization and industrialization activities have significantly increased globally, causing a major rise in demand for power supply. This has created excess load on power production and supply houses to meet the daily needs. Due to the excess load on circuits because of continuous power consumption, most of the firms and people, in general, are opting to install recloser systems for safety purposes. Further, the increased demand has also directly facilitated the expansion of transmission and distribution networks, which require recloser systems to be installed in vast numbers to avoid any potential damage, which could lead to complete power failure. Also, the growing automation activities have motivated the demand of recloser systems to automate the process and eliminate manual intervention for restoring power supply.
Cheap alternatives and poor infrastructural facilities are the major market restraints
The competition for circuit breaker electronics has increased globally, negatively impacting the recloser market. Multiple manufacturers in the safety system industry have started producing cheap alternatives to reclosers. Increased competition has also caused a strain on the recloser industry to provide better after-sales services. Further poor infrastructural facilities in various countries worldwide, hinder the potential market growth as many people don’t even have the facility of proper or enough electricity supply.
Growing privatization of the power sector to create a lucrative market opportunity
The power sector worldwide is undergoing a transformation for making the power production segment open to private companies. The growing electricity consumption is causing immense stress over public and government-owned power suppliers, indirectly forcing governments across the globe to open the power sector for private players. These individual suppliers are capable of meeting the daily power demands and are also majorly investing in the transmission and distribution sector for the betterment of infrastructural facilities. For instance, India has multiple largescale independent power producers (IPP) like Adani Power Ltd., Tata Power Co. Ltd., and Reliance Power Limited. Major countries in the IPP sector are Germany, Taiwan, Canada, USA, and India. With the growing power production capacity and better infrastructure, the demand for reclosers is anticipated to rise majorly during the forecast period.
Recloser Market, by Phase:
Three-phase reclosers segment to grow exponentially
Three-phase reclosers will have a dominating share in the global market, and they are expected to register a significant revenue during the forecast timeframe. Three-phase reclosers have become a more preferred option as compared to single-phase reclosers owing to benefits like more power to weight ratio, small size, and less conductor material requirement in the three-phase reclosers. Also, the growing demand for three-phase power has increased the demand for three-phase reclosers.
Recloser Market, by Control:
A hydraulic segment to be most lucrative till 2026
The hydraulic recloser segment is expected to grow majorly during the forecast period. The hydraulic reclosers are widely used in most of the single-phase and three-phase reclosers. They are placed inside a recloser and can sense an overcurrent very quickly and break the circuit. While the electronic recloser has major concerns of accidental circuit breaks, which could severely damage the appliances and machinery, hydraulic reclosers are much more reliable and require low maintenance. Also, hydraulic reclosers are comparatively low priced, making their demand rise in the global market.
Recloser Market, by Interruption:
Vacuum interruption recloser segment will register maximum growth
The vacuum recloser segment anticipated to generate maximum revenue during the forecast timeframe. Vacuum interruption reclosers require less than 300 milliseconds to recover from a fault and reconnect to the power supply. Since they work on the vacuum principle, the recloser requires fewer moving parts, which ensures the longevity of a recloser as well as requires low maintenance. Also, they are considered environmentally friendly since they do not require any oil and gas filling. Recent technological advancements like the inclusion of microprocessors help to measure and remote control the faults and tripping process quickly. All these factors have majorly contributed to the growing demand for vacuum reclosers.
Recloser Market, by Voltage Rating:
38 kV segment anticipated growing majorly
The 38 kV voltage rating reclosers are anticipated to grow exponentially during the forecast period. 38 kV reclosers are capable of handling high voltage frequencies and are used at locations where major power supply activities take place. The high voltage reclosers which have the levels at 38kV are majorly used at substations and converter stations. Their demand has significantly increased due to growing investments in the transmission and distribution sector.
Recloser Market, by Region:
North America to hold the largest market share
North America region will hold the largest market share in the recloser market during the forecast period. The development of infrastructure and increased investments towards smart grid projects and automatic distribution systems are the major factors driving the growth of the recloser market in the region. Growing demand for the installation of automatic safety equipment in both the residential and commercial sector is also positively impacting the market.
Europe will grow majorly in the recloser market
Europe region to grow at a significant rate in the recloser market during the forecast period. The growing demand for electrical energy from various sources like residential settlements and commercial outlets is the major factor positively impacting the market. Further growing industrialization and rising investments in smart grid infrastructural projects have resulted in increased demand for recloser devices.
